The new Legendary Hero Skin is for Warcraft legend Arthas Menethil, the flagship character of the new Death Knight class. The new skin will be available for purchase starting November 8, but will not be usable until March of the Lich King launches on December 6.

The Arthas Menethil Legendary Hero Skin features a fully-animated 3D model of the fallen prince of Lordaeron. In addition to unique voicelines, Legendary Hero Skins have a custom frame, and each of their emotes triggers a special animation. Like other existing Hearthstone Hero Skins, it features a unique hero tray and special animations when beginning a match and for its hero power. However, the Legendary Hero Skins also add special flair when attacking, summoning minions, and casting certain spells.

The new Hearthstone cosmetic announcement comes alongside the reveal of the newest expansion pack, March of the Lich King. The new card set adds 145 new cards to the game with new keywords, mechanics, and creature types. The new Death Knight class also arrives in the upcoming expansion, with Arthas as its default hero. Players can look forward to a free solo adventure exploring the fall of Arthas Menethil with the upcoming expansion, similar to what Ashes of Outland did with Illidan and the Demon Hunter.

Players who enjoy collecting Hearthstone rewards will want to get their hands on the new Legendary Hero Skin. While Hearthstone has only revealed the new Arthas Legendary Hero for its newest class, more of the premium cosmetics will undoubtedly be added to the other playable classes in due time. The price point for the new Legendary Hero Skins have not been revealed yet, but players can expect the premium Hearthstone cosmetic won’t come cheap.

Though players won’t be able to use the new Legendary Hero Skin for another month, they will still have plenty to occupy their time until March of the Lich King launches. Players can log in now to receive the new Sunwell Legendary neutral spell, and participate in the Hallow’s End event. Players can also pre-purchase the March of the Lich King bundles to unlock packs, cosmetics themed after World of Warcraft’s Blood Elves, and two new random Signature Legendary cards. These new collectible cards have special borders and full art, and will be available to collect from events and from packs once March of the Lich King launches.

Hearthstone is available now for mobile and PC. March of the Lich King launches on December 6.
