Even though Phil Spencer didn’t begin this console generation as the Head of Xbox, since taking over from his predecessor he has managed to undo many of the problems of the Xbox One and innovate in other areas like Game Pass subscription and create new SKUs like the Xbox One X. It’s clear Spencer and his team has learned a lot from this generation, going on to say that at Project Scarlett’s launch, the company will not be out of position on power or price.

Spencer goes on to admit that when Xbox One originally launched, Microsoft’s console was $100 more expensive and less powerful than its closest rival, the PlayStation 4. This time around, the leadership team that has been put in place is aiming to fix those issues with Project Scarlett. The team is all in and ready to compete this generation.
Ultimately, Microsoft isn’t fully ready to talk about Project Scarlett in great detail, so fans will likely have to wait later into 2020 when the next generation consoles will be nearing release. Regardless, Microsoft still has plenty of big things planned for the rest of the Xbox One’s lifespan if yesterday’s reveals at X019 were anything to go by.
