Two such shows will be a Green Lantern series from Greg Berlanti, who helped create The CW’s Arrowverse shows like Batwoman, and a Justice League Dark series from J.J. Abrams. These productions will have “movie-like budgets” HBO Max content chief Kevin Reilly said in an interview with Business Insider.

Though Reilly praised the work done on DC Comics properties with The CW, he said the new shows “will not be that,” as they will be the “next step up” in production value. Abrams apparently pitched the idea of his upcoming series as well after prior movie adaptations failed to get off the ground.
While all of these irons are in the fire on the television side, the DC Extended Universe may also see the return of Henry Cavill’s Superman, as the actor is in talks to come back for other projects.
